People need to sign this petition because synthetic medical mesh implants among other permanent surgically implanted devices can be fast tracked through the FDA 510 process. This allows clearance of medical devices without significant or any testing on humans because they are substantially the same as a predicate device.
The identified problem is that the FDA has no recourse to recall subsequent devices when the predicate device is recalled because of defects and higher complications and death rates than predicted.

It is absolutely deplorable what has been done to us that have had Mesh implants...The Manufactures of said product(s) do not show any remorse for what has been done to us...we are no longer human beings, we are LOT numbers for said device... I have a face, a name and a voice and that is how I want to be seen, not by Lot # ..... my life has forever been changed from a "simple routine" operation that went absolutely wrong because these devices were not tested in human clinical trials...Shame on the Manufacture's and the Government for allowing this to happen to us...Im certainly not proud to be a "Canadian" right now....

As a registered nurse and mesh-injured patient I would support a total ban on using surgical mesh implants. Failing that, I would ask the government to require at least: mandatory disclosure of all risks well before surgery, giving the patient ample time--at least 2 weeks--to make a truly informed decision; mandatory follow-up of patients with implants for at least 10 years; mandatory reporting by physicians of suspected and known complications; specialized training for surgeons in each province to correct (not just "manage") complications.

this is in the same league as thalidamide!you cant just say oops,as mad as i get about how long it takes to get approval for somethin new this is why,we cant use ourselves as guinea pigs and then have no cosequences,these guys took the risk ,they get the rewardwhen it goes good they should take the punishment when it goes bad,if they cant fix the mistake let them pay for it

Its so sad that these women who were affected went in for a procedure to fix this problem, and came out of it feeling so much worse. And not sure whats the biggest crime, the fact that this pain is very much a reality in their lives now or the fact that they are having trouble getting the right people to listen.

People have the right to be informed about defective medical materials used in surgery and the risks involved with using them. These products should not even be in human healing business. Medical treatments and materials that are known to destroy, injure, and cause death, that have the FDA stamp on them are preapproved crimes committed against the patients themselves, and a crime against the civilization that the FDA is designed to protect.
